UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Updated: Oct 10, 2023

Where would you be without God’s unconditional love? God sent His son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins (John 3:16). The fact that God sent His only son is a testament to how much God loves you. Christ died for generations of people whom he did not physically know out of obedience to His Father. You cannot even imagine loving anyone that much in which you would give up a child of your own to die for others. However, through Christ’s sacrifice and you accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, God’s unconditional love has been spiritually placed on the inside of you (1 John 4:16). Therefore, you are to unconditionally love others.

Wives, God directs you to unconditionally love your husbands. God does not desire for wives to love their spouses unconditionally as some type of punishment. He knows for your husband to see Christ and His love, unconditional love must be displayed through you. After all, you are ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). An ambassador is an authorized representative or messenger. Who authorizes you to be ambassadors? Christ authorizes you to be ambassadors. So, wives you are representatives or messengers for Christ. Since you must represent Christ, you must demonstrate unconditional love to your spouses.

God’s word is very descriptive in sharing with you what love is so you do not misconstrue God’s divine love with a worldly definition of love. Love is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not prideful, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, and never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). God and Christ expect wives to be patient and kind to their husbands. God and Christ expect wives to not be envious, boastful, nor prideful towards their husbands. God and Christ expect wives to not dishonor their husbands. God and Christ expect wives to not be self-seeking, easily angered, keep no record of wrongs, nor delight in evil but rejoice with the truth concerning their husbands. God and Christ expect wives to always protect, trust, hope and persevere regarding their husbands. God and Christ expect wives to unconditionally love without failing knowing that God’s love for them never fails. Are you a wife? If so, that signifies God is talking to YOU! Unconditionally loving your spouse means that you do not place any conditions on your love for him just like God does not put any conditions on His love for you. God nor Christ removes their love for you when you do something that is displeasing or hurtful to them. God does not expect you to stop loving your spouse if he does something that is displeasing or hurtful to you. One of the biggest sacrifices you will have to make is unconditionally loving your spouse if you truly desire to see God move concerning your marriage restoration. That’s right! You must sacrifice your pain, hurt, anger, pride, sorrow, and whatever else you feel. You don’t think you can do it? God says you can, and He expects you to do it. Why does He expect you to sacrifice and unconditionally love? He expects you to sacrifice and unconditionally love because He asked His Son to sacrifice His life for you. You are called to be like Christ (Philippians 2:5-13). You already have it inside of you to offer this sacrifice of unconditional love to God for his other son, YOUR HUSBAND! That’s right! Your husband is God’s son too. God loves your husband, and He desires to see your husband restored back to Him. Make an ultimate sacrifice for God by unconditionally loving your husband, and watch God restore his son back to Him and your husband back to you (1 Peter 5:10)!
